“Jdance Stars and USA Tour”
A huge congratulations to the young Jdance student who has been officially cast in a leading role in an upcoming hit musical - until contracts are finalised we cannot say more at this stage, but what a great thrill for this student. Principal Jennifer Engelmann is also proud that a previous senior student has been accepted into the highly acclaimed NIDA fulltime course. Jdance has many past and current students who have continued in the professional dance field performing in London’s West End, cruise ships, “Wiggles”, plus various commercials & movies, too numerous to list. As education is very important the centre is very proud to say that many students are continuing their studies in dance at university level.
In 2008 many Jdance team members toured the USA, dancing at “Disneyland”, “Universal Studio’s” & “Ala Moana Centre, Hawaii”. With another international trip planned for the 2012 all Jdance students will again, have another opportunity to be involved in this exciting adventure. Jdance Performance Studio was the first ever fully approved dance & performing arts complex approved by City of Ryde Council. Our studio’s set a precedent for dance studio fitouts in the local area. Featuring wall to wall mirrors, air conditioning & tarkett dance flooring as used by professional dance companies such as “The Australian Ballet”. Our amazing studio’s have been hired for rehearsals & filming for T.V. shows such as “Dancing With The Stars” & “So You Think
Boasting both highly professional & qualified staff, students receive not only expert and quality training but also the latest in dance trends. In 2010 students were excited to watch 2 of our teachers reach the finals in “So You Think You Can Dance”, with Sally Hare being scouted to appear in the musical “Fame”. Having contacts in the professional dance field saw our senior students perform and appear in a “Top 40” video clip. The studio’s hip hop teacher Vince De Vega grew up & trained in the U.S.A. He has danced with Janet Jackson & appeared in popular hip hop movie “You Got Served”. The studio provides BOYS ONLY HIP HOP classes.
Students have the opportunity to take examinations with a worldwide recognised organisation if they wish to further their studies. Jdance students always gain excellent results with majority “Distinctions”. Our examiner was impressed with the centre’s standard, quoted as saying, “I always enjoy examining Jdance students as they are well prepared and a delight to watch. Our multi award winning “Jdance Performance Team” scooped the prize pool at eisteddfods this year and are widely sought after and recognised at performances throughout Sydney. Their routines are always energetic, colourful & full of personality.
“Doesn’t Every Child Deserve An Award”! At Jdance Performance Studio everyone is a winner. Principal Jennifer Engelmann, who grew up in the local area, believes that each & every student works hard throughout the year & deserves recognition. Why should only a select few, talented dancers receive the pleasure of taking home a trophy. An awards event is held at the end of every year and all students in attendance receive a trophy. This helps to eliminate competition between students keeping “Jdance Performance Studio” a fun and friendly place to dance & also a place where long lasting friendships are made.
Fees are very reasonable if not unbeatable. Many clients often ask, “How can you keep your fees so low with quality facilities & offer such great discounts”! The answer is simple, our studio’s are owner occupied so we can pass the savings onto our loyal clients. In addition the studio is very generous offering 5 scholarships valued in excess of $3000. This years recipients are local students Elissa Watt, winning the major scholarship and Ai Leng Lee, Miriam Jackson, Stephanie Graetz & Eliza Dunlop the minor scholarships. Exercise is important for all ages and the studio offers adult only classes in most styles of dance. They are very fun, friendly and popular and offer social events throughout the year.
